Description: OurChurch.Com is a leading provider of web hosting, design, marketing, and advertising services to Christian individuals and organizations. We are seeking to add to our team an experienced software developer who is passionate about seeing Christian organizations connect and communicate more effectively using the Internet.
Duties: This person will help create future generations of our NE1 Web Builder, Joomla-based CMS services, the OurChurch.Com website and other applications. This will include writing software that utilizes PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
The job requires project management skills including the abilities to write requirements, create and adhere to a schedule, assign and delegate tasks, develop and perform tests, write documentation, and manage people. Depending on the project the individual may be asked to work alone, lead other OCC staff, or hire/manage outside contractors.
Knowledge and Experience: This person must have at least 3 years developing PHP/MySQL-based web applications and a thorough understanding of HTML and CSS. He/she must be able to work in a Linux server environment. Experience with Joomla is a plus. Experience using APIs to integrate websites with social networking tools is also a plus.
Character: This person must be self-motivated and able to work from home with no direct supervision. He or she must have good communication skills and be able to communicate clearly in written text. The individual must have a friendly, positive attitude, be very patient, and not easily frustrated. He or she should view the position as more than just a job but as a ministry of Christian service helping other Christians in ministry.
Hours: The position is salaried and calls for approximately 45 hours per week, though more may be required to meet deadlines. Typical hours will be Monday-Friday 8 AM to 5 PM, though there is quite a bit of flexibility allowed as long as work is getting done. OurChurch.Com supports a family-friendly work schedule accommodating time off for family needs whenever possible.
Additional requirements: Individual must have a desktop or laptop computer running Windows XP or Vista and a broadband Internet connection. OCC will provide a broadband phone line, which will work through the individual?s broadband Internet connection.
Location: Individual will work from their home preferably in the Tampa Bay area and be available and able to commute for occasional meetings and company activities (5-10 times a year). Working from home has many benefits, but the individual must be able to perform their job with minimal interruptions.
Compensation: $50K-$70K for one year depending on experience, education, and knowledge. Individual will be compensated as a contractor and will be responsible for their own federal income tax & social security withholdings, and payroll taxes.
