Web Administrator (contract)

Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Sciences (www.kgi.edu) is seeking to fill a contract web administrator position. The Web Administrator will report to the Director of Communications and maintain an engaging, up-to-date website that reflects KGI?s mission and values.

KGI offers an interdisciplinary graduate education through its Master of Bioscience (MBS) degree program and its PhD program in Applied Life Sciences. Using team-based learning and real-world projects, KGI?s innovative curriculum seamlessly combines applied life sciences, bioengineering, bioethics and business management. KGI is a member of The Claremont Colleges, located in Claremont, California.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage users and groups in conjunction with a web content management system. Assign user permissions and review all changes before publication.
2. Train new users in the Ingeniux web content management system.
3. Prepare reusable resources (templates, standards, picture/graphic library, directory, calendars, etc.) for inclusion on web pages by contributing users.
4. Create and maintain content to ensure a current website.
5. Thoroughly understand the Ingeniux CMS capabilities and communicate this understanding to users.
6. Interact with web-hosting company and KGI IT department as needed.
7. Work on special projects such as the formatting of pages for new programs, construction of new design elements (flash, rotators, etc.), setting up online forms for database creation, setting up streaming content, etc.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Excellent writing skills and superb interpersonal skills
2. Familiarity with Ingeniux
3. Some knowledge of scripting and programming languages (HTML, XHTML, CSS)
4. Knowledge of graphic design and associated software
5. Ability to initiate projects and solve problems independently

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
1. Bachelor?s degree, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
2. 2-5 years experience in web administration.
3. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in academic environments.
